Windows 7 Shortcuts: Windows Logo Key

Once again, here are some keyboard shortcuts that can greatly ease your computing experience. When you are typing, it sometimes is easier to use a shortcut over reaching for the mouse. So today's shortcuts all use the "start menu" key (Windows logo key) on your keyboard.

I often use a few keyboard shortcuts to handle simple tasks and to maneuver around the computer. Take a look and try some of these great time savers.  (Tip: Use the sequence listed to get the proper response.)

Windows logo key + D
Shift to Desktop / Minimize all windows

Windows logo key + M
Minimize all windows.

Windows logo key + Tab
Cycle through programs on the taskbar by using Aero Flip 3-D (If you release Windows Key, it goes back to normal view.)

Ctrl + Windows logo key + Tab
Use the arrow keys to cycle through programs on the taskbar by using Aero Flip 3-D (It goes to Aero Flip 3-D view and even if you release all keyboard buttons, it still stays in Aero Flip 3-D. Until you decide you choose which program you wish to select.

Cycle through programs on the taskbar.

Windows logo key + Home
Minimize everything but the active window.

Windows logo key + E
Open Computer (what used to be called "My Computer")


Windows logo key + F
Search for a file or folder.

Windows logo key + number (1 for the program that is nearest to start button, 2 for second nearest and so on…) Start the program pinned to the taskbar in the position indicated by the number. If the program is already running, switch to that program.

The New Visual Network: Pinterest

This new up and rising website star has no visible means of support, contains millions of pictures and receives visits from 10 million people in the U.S. each month. It was listed as one of the The 50 Best Websites of 2011 by Time Magazine.  It has received some impressive free media exposure with Reese Witherspoon stating it has "a collection of the most amazing, wonderful craftiness on the earth!" So what is Pinterest?  It has been called a visual bulletin board for the Web. People post images of what they love:  food, clothing, crafts, books, movies, decorating, travel, photography, videos.. you name it, it's there. Clean Up Your Notifications

  OK.  On any giving day I used to get hundreds of email notifications. Why do I need so many? I don't, really.  I am on many of the social networks daily.  But it takes time to change all those different sites.. or does it.
